Just to let y’all know (I’ve been in Florida three and a half years and I still can’t pull that off): our brand new documentary, PURITAN, has just been released.
My blurb:
Joyless. Severe. Fanatical. “Haunted by the fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy.” That’s the Puritan reputation. But to what extent is that reputation deserved? Drawing on the latest research, and featuring interviews with some of the most celebrated scholars in the field, this beautiful and atmospheric new documentary takes us from the birth of Puritanism all the way through to its influence in the present day.
I wrote the screenplay for PURITAN, but there’s a remarkable roll call of interviewees who really make the film sing, together with presenter Dr Joel Beeke.
At present, the film is available as part of a multi-disc “Deluxe” edition which includes the 127 minute film itself plus FIVE whole discs of extra material, a workbook, a clothbound “Introduction To The Puritans” gift book written by Michael Reeves and Joel Beeke, and other goodies. Full details (and trailer) here. Or you can just recklessly go ahead and order here.
If you’d like to just watch the film itself, I’m told that’ll be out as a standalone documentary some time next year.
